About Sandra Hoyn

Sandra Hoyn (born 1976 in Wolfenbüttel, Germany), studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, Germany, and graduated in 2005. She started working as an independent photojournalist for magazines, NGOs and on her personal projects focusing on social, environmental and human rights issues.

2017 she received the first prize of the Sony World Photography Awards in category daily life, POYi – Pictures of the Year International 3rd place category portrait. 2016 Magnum Photography Award in category photojournalism, 2015 World Press Photo Award third prize, category nature singles.

Her work has been published in „Die Zeit“, „Der Spiegel“, „stern“, „GEO“, „The New York Times Lens Blog“, „The Washington Post“, „Cosmopolitan“, „Internazionale“ among others.
